PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
by Tom Hoffman, MD, PDA President

Last Chance to Register for PDA 2009

We are less than one month away from our 61st Annual Meeting to be held in beautiful Portland, Oregon on August 12-16.  I encourage all of our members to participate and also to invite any non-member dermatologists that you may know to join and/or attend this upcoming meeting. Portland generally has great weather in August, and the city has much to offer including the many city sites, local art, theater, the scenic majesty of the surrounding Pacific Northwest, and a reputation for delectable cuisine in an abundance of highly regarded restaurants. Some of you may choose to extend your stay and further enjoy what area has to offer.

Dr. Andy Blauvelt, our program chair, has put together a wonderful program with many excellent highly regarded speakers covering the spectrum of medical and surgical dermatologic topics.  We will have three superb guest dermatopathologists this year from Oregon Health & Science University for the CPC sessions. Dr. Boris Bastian of UCSF will present the "Ervin Epstein Lecture" on Genetic Alterations Driving Melanoma. I think you will find the Victor D Newcomer Lecture presentation to be highly educational, as well as the selected case presentations by residents from several teaching programs.

There are still rooms available at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront Hotel, but make your reservations soon. You all know how wonderful the annual PDA meeting is.  I look forward to seeing you next month.
