CALL FOR RESIDENT CASE PRESENTATIONS

The Resident Case Presentations are an integral part of each PDA Annual Meeting as they showcase future leaders in the field of dermatology. The 2012 Resident Symposia will take place on Sunday, August 26, 2012 during our 64th Annual Meeting in Huntington Beach, California.

Eligibility

Submission to be a presenter is open to Dermatology Residents in any of the Pacific Rim countries, Canada, Mexico and the Western United States including Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Texas, Washington and Wyoming.

Submission Guidelines

Submitted cases should have good teaching value and good clinical slides. The presentation itself should be no more than six (6) minutes in duration and should allow time for one to two questions. All Resident Case Presentation submissions must be done online. Submission forum will be available February 1, 2012.

Questions? Please call PDA at (888) 388-8815.

The submission deadline is June 27, 2012. Please note that residents will receive an email directly from the PDA Resident Case Moderator confirming official receipt of the case submission. If this email is not received within 72 hours of your submission, please submit the case again. Please limit submissions to one (1) per presenter. Please do not mail the clinical slides or powerpoint along with your submission. They will be requested by PDA Staff prior to presentation at the Annual Meeting.

Travel Expenses

Reimbursement for hotel accommodations and travel expenses with a comprehensive maximum of $500 will be distributed upon submission of proper documentation (i.e. receipts) at the conclusion of the meeting.

Accommodations

Please note that the PDA also offers a roommate matching service to help residents "stretch" their travel dollars. Please contact the PDA office at (888) 388-8815 or via email at pda@hp-assoc.com no later than July 11, 2012 if you would like to share a room with another attendee (and split the cost of the room). Remember to indicate whether you are male or female and your anticipated arrival and departure dates.

Award

The best resident presenter will receive the Arnold W. Gurevitch Award. The recipient will be given a commemorative certificate, will be entitled to two years of free membership to the PDA following the completion of their residency and will receive $200.

Judging Procedure

Please note that submitted cases will be subject to a double-blind review and scored by a committee of 6-8 PDA members. 12 cases will be selected for presentation in the Resident Case Symposium.
